Parent Info Night ( IEP / IPRC )

Special Education will be hosting an information session for parents/guardians regarding the TDSB’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Identification, Placement and Review Committee (IPRC) processes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2009.

The session will be held at the Bloor Collegiate Institute in the Auditorium ( 1141 Bloor St. W )

The two Supervising Principals of Special Education in the west are as follows:

Grade 8 Reviews

What happens at the reviews?

A review IPRC meeting will be held within the school year. The parent may request a review IPRC meeting any time after their child has been in a special education program for 3 months.

What does a review IPRC consider and decide?

The review IPRC considers the same type of information that was originally considered.
With the parent’s written permission, the IPRC conducting the review will consider the progress the student has made in relation to the IEP.

The IPRC will review the placement and identification decisions and decide whether they should be continued or whether a different decision should now be made.

What Is An IEP?

An Individualized Education Program (IEP) describes the educational program that has been designed to meet that child's unique needs. Each child who receives special education and related services must have an IEP. Each IEP must be designed for one student and must be a truly individualized document. The IEP creates an opportunity for teachers, parents, school administrators, related services personnel, and students (when age appropriate) to work together to improve educational results for children with disabilities. The IEP is the cornerstone of a quality education for each child with a disability.
